Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban Sells Majority Stake

Mark Cuban, the outspoken and charismatic owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has sold the majority of his stake in the team.

The new majority owners are Miriam Adelson, the widow of late casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, and her family, including her son-in-law, Patrick Dumont.

Cuban, who has owned the Mavericks since 2000, will retain a minority stake in the team and continue to serve as its governor. The sale price was not disclosed, but it is believed to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

The sale marks a significant change in ownership for the Mavericks, who have been one of the most successful teams in the NBA under Cuban's leadership. The Mavericks have won one NBA championship (2011) and have made 15 playoff appearances since Cuban took over.

Cuban's departure as majority owner is sure to raise questions about the future of the Mavericks. However, the new ownership group is committed to maintaining the team's success and continuing to build on the legacy that Cuban has established.
