Om je goed voor te bereiden op de 105e Nijmeegse Vierdaagse
From Saturday 15 until Friday 21 July Nijmegen will turn back into the temporary walking capital of the world. After two cancelled editions due to COVID-19 the 105th edition of the Vierdaagse is coming up and the organisation has plenty in store for all participants.
Here's everything you need to know about the 2023 Vierdaagse:
The routes
Every day you start and finish in Nijmegen and you walk routes of 30, 40 or 50 kilometres each time in a different wind direction. This means that you will discover the beauty of the Overbetuwe between the rivers Waal and Maas.
The dates
The Vierdaagse will take place from Tuesday July 18 to Friday July 21. On Tuesday you walk the 50 kilometre route, on Wednesday the 40 kilometre route, on Thursday 30 kilometres and on Friday the final 40 kilometres.
Registration
Registration for the Vierdaagse is already open and will close on Sunday 28 May 2023. You can register on the website of the Vierdaagse: https://www.4daagse.nl/en/
Costs
The costs for registration are €165. This includes the walking shirt, the Vierdaagse papers, the medal and a day ticket for the city bus service.
Accommodation
There are a number of options for accommodation during the Vierdaagse. You can camp, rent a room or book a hotel. It is advisable to book your accommodation well in advance, as it can get very busy during the Vierdaagse.
Training
It is important to train well for the Vierdaagse. Start training several months in advance and gradually build up your distance. Also, make sure to wear good walking shoes.
Tips
- Drink plenty of water during the Vierdaagse. - Eat healthy foods. - Get enough sleep. - Listen to your body and take breaks when you need them.
In the third week of July we walk the 4Days Marches together, the world's largest walking event. After two years of absence due to the corona crisis, we are happy to meet again and we are committed to making this edition a great success.
