Witt Family Makes History in MLB Draft

In a historic moment for baseball, Bobby Witt Sr. and his son, Bobby Witt Jr., became the first father-son duo to be drafted in the top five picks of the MLB Draft. Bobby Witt Jr. was selected second overall by the Kansas City Royals, while Witt Sr. was drafted third overall by the Texas Rangers in 1985.

A Family Legacy in Baseball

Witt Sr. played 16 seasons in the MLB as a pitcher, making two All-Star appearances. Witt Jr. is a highly touted shortstop who was considered one of the top prospects in this year's draft. He was named the Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year in 2021 and won a gold medal with the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
