The Supreme Court of Texas is the highest court in the state for civil matters. It is composed of a Chief Justice and eight Justices, all elected positions with six-year terms and no term limits.

Chief Justice Nathan L. Hecht is the 27th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas. He has been elected to the Court seven times, first in 1988 as a Justice and again in 2014 as Chief Justice.
