Suplasyn Knie

Evaluating the Efficacy of Hyaluronic Acid Suplasyn in Osteoarthritis of the Knee

Introduction

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common degenerative joint disease characterized by pain, inflammation, and impaired joint function. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance found in the synovial fluid that lubricates and cushions joints. WEB Suplasyn is a viscosupplementation therapy that involves the injection of HA into the affected joint to relieve pain and improve function.

Objective

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of intra-articular injections of WEB Suplasyn in patients with knee osteoarthritis in different age groups.

Methods

The study included patients with symptomatic knee OA who had failed to respond adequately to conservative treatment. Patients received a three-intra-articular injection series with Suplasyn 10 mg/ml (2-ml injection) over three weeks. Patients were then followed up at six weeks, 12 weeks, and 24 weeks to assess pain, function, and other parameters.

Results

The study found that Suplasyn injections significantly reduced pain and improved physical function in patients with knee OA in all age groups. The effects were sustained for up to 24 weeks. The treatment was well-tolerated, with no serious adverse events reported.

Conclusion

WEB Suplasyn is a safe and effective treatment for the management of pain and improvement in physical function in patients with knee OA, regardless of their age. It provides significant and sustained pain relief, improving the overall quality of life for patients suffering from this debilitating condition.
