Sauce Gardner Removed Tape From His Hand Before Final Play
Sauce Gardner thought the game was over so he removed the tape from his hand, preparing to head to the locker room.
The New York Jets were clinging to a 20-17 lead with just seconds remaining in the game against the New York Giants.
Gardner, the Jets' star cornerback, had just made a tackle on Giants running back Saquon Barkley, and he thought the game was over.
He began to remove the tape from his hand, but then he saw the Giants' quarterback, Tyrod Taylor, drop back to pass.
Gardner quickly put the tape back on his hand and ran back to the huddle.
Taylor's pass was incomplete, and the Jets held on to win the game.
Gardner's quick thinking saved the Jets the game.
